Former department store, now Protemp recruitment. Terra-cotta and turquoise stone and ceramics combine to to create a magnificent piece of architecture which includes a ceramic lion located at the very top above the corner entrance. Also featured are gryphons and male and female heads. Scrolled faience tiles above the entrance make a panel with the words BARNSLEY BRITISH CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD.

This former department store, now The Chicago Rock Cafe, is another fabulous piece of Victorian architecture. The original stone building features a clock tower and four stone panels, running the length of the Wellington Street side of the building containing the words BRITISH - CO-OPERATIVE two panels appear to have be chiseled flat to remove the wording. On both New Street and Wellington Street there have been additions to the building which contain tall arched windows and ornate oriental styled wrought iron decorations.
